H&M Goes Online

What with the release with Zara Online last week, this is a seriously busy month for UK online shoppers because, as of Monday, we can officially buy H&M clothing on the internet.  Excited? Damn well should be.  It has shops all around Europe, no, the world, and yet it has taken until now to make the web.  Here are a few of my personal favourites...:

1. T-shirt £5.99, 2.  Skirt £14.99, 3.  Shoes £29.99, 4.  Leggings £9.99, 5.  Coat £49.99, 6.  Jacket £14.99, 7.  Skirt £12.99, 8.  Top £14.99, 9.  Jumper £9.99

So the names aren't the most inventive, but for prices like these, really couldn't care... It reminds you why you love this shop.
1.  This is a great little baggy tshirt for a little edge
2.  Statement skirt.. I would wear it with all in black so that it is the main feature of the outfit.
3.  Heeled ankle boots with studded detailling on the front, perfect for any night out
4.  Now, these are a serious statement pair of leggings... but I really like them.  If you have the guts, just wear them with a white tshirt, black jacket and some black shoes, and step outside for people to admire your courage, and your style.
5.  I really like this coat to blend in with the military trend of the moment.  Just black wool with little studded buttons.. I'm a fan.
6.  I l.o.v.e this jacket.  It's made of a light silk-like material and with its outlandish pattern, it, yet again, makes a great statement of any outfit.  My only complaint..it's cropped, but that's probably just me who minds.
7.  I love this skirt too.  It's slightly cheaper than the other one, and is a very similar pattern to the cropped jacket, and is just fantastic.  For a quirky look but with a confident edge, it is perfect.
8.  A very plain black vest, jazzed up with several small chains around the neckline.. Very cool.
9.  And finally, a really nice, laid-back jumper, whether for a lazy sunday in a big knit, or for going out for a classic, french-like look. Cowl neckline tops it all off..

And there you have it, the new collection from H&M.  The shop doesn't officially open until the 16th, but sign up for the newsletters, like I do, and have an early peek.. Definitely worth a look, definitely worth stealing.

A Trench Coat : The Winter Necessity

A very traditional item of clothing necessary to get through the winter is the trench coat.  It's stylish, classic, and so typically English that is is a must-have..

Whether worn for elegance, like Charlize Theron, to wrap up warm to go to the shops, like Kate Hudson, or to put it over a formal outfit for a slightly more laid-back approach, like Alexa Chung, this coat is perfect for all occasions.

Now, I have been after one for a while, but they tend to be a little pricey, and being a student, not quite in my budget!  So, another thing worth knowing about me is my love of ebay.  I swear by it, use it all the time, and have learnt that, if you are careful, you can find some real bargains!  It was here that last week I found my trench coat..

Perfect, isn't it? It's from Next, brand new, and will have been worth..what, £40-50?  I got it for £10.  Bargain. Made my day...no, wait, my life.  It's fantastic. I've already worn it over high-waisted shorts, a top and pumps, for a laid back yet stylish approach..  As we go deeper and deeper into winter and those cold days, I have to say I shall most definitely be copying Miss Hudson's approach, and shall be wrapping up with jumpers, gloves and boots, throwing this coat on on top to complete.

However, for those of you who aren't lucky enough to find anything on ebay, here are a few of my favourites on the market, for a variety of prices...:

1. Stone Crop Belted Mac, Miss Selfridge £55, 2. Neutral Pleat Detail Mac, Next £65, 3. Piped Detail Mac, Warehouse £80, 4. MACS Mac, French Connection £225

A trench coat? Perfect for any wardrobe, and a style worth stealing.

A Look at Taylor Momsen

As this young Gossip Girl star has matured, so has her sense of style.  She is known for her grungey looks, fierce makeup and white blonde hair, and I have to admit, I really love a lot of the outfits she turns up in...

I think we'd all look twice if we saw this little lady walking down the street!
1.  Now, I know leather has been a recent trend, but other than jackets, I personally haven't particularly understood the idea, however Miss Momsen manages to sway me.. This leather skirt looks classy, yet edgy paired with a black printed tee and ankle boots
2.  School-girl with a twist, a leather one in fact.  A floaty navy skirt, a white printed vest with a loose tie, all topped off with black strappy sandals and a leather jacket.
3.  A perfect outfit for a night out on the town.  A usual choice is all in black, but contrasted with this bright pink skirt makes a real statement.

Another thing worth noticing among all of these outfits is Taylor Momsen's variety of shades of lipstick.  For the all in black, 'classy yet edgy', there's the vampy dark red.. For the 'school girl gone bad', there's a pale ____.. And finally, for the 'night out on the town', there's a bright pink to match the skirt.  In this case, she shows quite how vital makeup is to complete an appearance.  If you want my opinion, it's definitely worth stealing this young star's style.

Beauty For Your Feet

Before I get too into this whole blog thing, I have to tell everyone that I love shoes.. If that upsets you, annoys you, is something you just can't tolerate, then leave now.. If not, join me, soak in the gorgeousness that are shoes..

I came into a little money recently, so you know what I did? Of course you do, I went shopping. And when I say shopping, I mean a seriously hardcore session of retail therapy: I went m.e.n.t.a.l. Prime feature of that day? I came home with not one, not two, but THREE pairs of shoes.  Another thing to know about me is that I am a serious bargain hunter. I don't spend much money on anything unless it is simply irresistable. Summary - 3 pairs of shoes = £40.
I know, I know....professional. Take a look.....

Beautiful aren't they?

1. Dorothy Perkins £15 : The biggest platform heels I possess, but amazing, I thought.. The combination of the platform, the chunky heel and the golden zips across the front make them a real statement pair.
2. Linea (House of Fraser) £15 : A really classic pair of strapped shoes, patent and elegant, modernised and given that little bit of edge with small golden studs.  The heel is not too high for events where standing is necessary, but perfect for going out, either to the clubs or a formal dinner.
3. Dorothy Perkins £10 : Another statement pair of shoes, made so through their height, not in heel, but in structure, moving above the ankle up the leg.  In suede, they are classy, but being tall and with thin silver leather straps makes them stand out and draw your attention..

They had to be bought I felt.  Came home and wore them around my room for ages, I was well and truly in love..!

Anyway, moving on from the shoes I do own, to the ones I dream of owning... Would you like to see some of the most stunning shoes I have ever seen?

Karen Millen Limited Edition STRETCH SUEDE OVER THE KNEE Boots £350
I have always loved over-the-knee boots.. They brim with elegance and yet flash you that bit of thigh that make them sexy as hell.  However, of course, they come at a price, and a high one at that.. These boots splatter the pages of this month's ELLE magazine, and I am crazy about them.. If I ever win the lottery, they may yet be a necessary purchase, a style worth stealing, you might say...

Until next time!

Two posts in one day? That's my apology for not posting over the weekend.... Forgive me?

Zara Goes Online

And the big news of this week in September......the arrival of the Zara online shop! Way over-due, and highly anticipated, this website is certain to bring much happiness to many women (and men) all around the country.  Being a big fan of online shopping myself, I have to say few were as excited as myself (I actually hopefully was on their midnight at the break of September 2nd to see how quickly it was to be up and running... I know, don't judge !!)

Anyway, in celebration of this new development, I thought I would put up and discuss a few of my favourite items from this wonderful shop....:

1. Double Brested Frock Coat £69.99, 2. Gauze Dress with Animal Print £35.99, 3. Faux Sheep Skin Jacket £39.99, 4. Short Cross-Over Blazer £49.99, 5. Cotton Trousers with Pleats £19.99,  6. Layered Skirt £39.99, 7. Short T-shirt with Short Sleeves £14.99, 8. Bolero Jacket Opening in Back £39.99, 9. Military Jacket Buttons £39.99, 10. Pleated Trousers with Braces £22.99

Such an amazing collection, narrowing it down was actually surprisingly difficult!  Anyway, as for what's in it..

1.  Though it is a little pricey, I thought this coat was highly appropriate, military being so in of late.  Stylishly fitted with smart gold buttons and a neat little collar, and of long length, it would look fantastic with a pair of jeans and boots.
2.  I am in LOVE with this dress. A gorgeous leopard print with a black bow around the chest, it is an unusual loose shape and a nice above-the-knee length -perfect for a smart dinner or a night out.
3.  Well, I figured this was perfect for the present aviator trend.  It has a nice wide wooly collar and looks very smart.  It also looks really expensive, but is totally affordable!
4.  I thought this jacket is very Balmain. Cropped, with gold buttons and wide shoulders, it is a statement to make when needing to buy a black jacket to go with everything.
5.  Another style that is very 'in' at the moment is this shape of trousers.. I thought these ones were very nicely designed and a great colour, perfect for a slightly more casual get-up.
6.  I am a fan of high waisted skirts.. They cover up all that needs covering, but provide a beautifully feminine shape.  This one is perfect with a shirt for work of a tshirt for shopping, very multi-functional.
7.  Nice navy white stripes and a stylish bat-wing style sleeve with a cute little pocket on the chest -a very plain but necessary wardrobe piece.
8.  A fantastic chunky knit, and a vital item for this winter.  Oversized, in a relaxed shade of light grey, perfect for curling up in front of the fire or popping out in the cold.
9.  Another military-style jacket, only in navy this time, and a slightly softer approach to the trend.  With long strips of big buttons and small but statement pockets, it is a great coat for this September.
10.  A similar style of trouser as the previous pair, slimly fitted in either navy or beige, and with braces to boot, just to toughen up the look, add something a little more different..

Zara is a fantastic place to shop, not only for its elegant, yet relaxed style, but also for its prices, being cheaper than Mango (its Spanish rival) but still of great quality.  I thought I would finish with a few words.....expressed through some of their shoes.  Worth stealing? Definite yes me thinks !!

A Look at Clémence Poésy

Big news of recent weeks - Clémence Poésy has joined the Gossip Girl cast.  Very exciting.. Being only really famous for her role as Fleur de la Coeur of Harry Potter, and the short part played in In Bruges, I had never particularly investigated into this young French girl's fashion, but having done so, I'm glad I did!...:

So typically french, the Parisian Chic style that has been mulling around through 2009-2010, with smart shirts, fitted skirts, elegant shoes, and graceful dresses.  We should all take tips from this young fashion-queen-to-be.. I thought a little recreation was necessary..plus it's fun for me!

1. Green and Cream Tweed Dress, Next £38, 2. Cream Jacket, Miss Selfridge £49, 3. Grey 80 Dernier Tights, Miss Selfridge £6, 4. Georgette Ankle Strap Wedges, Topshop £60.

Tweed has been appearing a lot on and off the catwalk lately, and I have to admit I am a fan.. It can be considered very preppy, middle-classed and middle-aged, but paired with the right things (such as a white jacket on Miss Poésy) it can be classy and different.  Grey as opposed to black tights soften the look and the shoes are subtle yet are perfect when noticed.  When running away from the paparazzi into the sunlight, big sunglasses are a must to fully complete this look of French beauty.  Worth stealing? Definite yes from me.

Jumpsuits Are All The Rage

As you may or may not have been aware, over the last 12 months, jumpsuits have been growing in popularity:

The celebs are being seen in them more and more frequently, whether they be classic black ones, or crazy zebra print ones a la Katy Perry.  Now, I possess a couple of playsuits, and absolutely adore them as a style of clothing, however it was only the other day that I bought my very first jumpsuit...

New Look, £25 'TYE DYE JUMPSUIT'

It's nice, isn't it? I thought so.. I went in to buy a plain black one, simple but elegant and different, but I left with this.  In my eyes, tye dye is a risky business, but this one has an edge to it and makes a statement, and whether to dress it up to go out, or even just casually (as it is seriously comfy!) I don't really do pretty, I do quirky, unique (or at least I try) so I thought this was quite perfect, teamed with some killer heels and, as shown, my safety piece of a black jacket!

Go out and buy one, they're definitely a style worth stealing..

A Look at Emma Watson

I have been doing a lot of website browing of recent, and do you know what I have discovered? Quite how important Emma Watson is at the moment! Marie Claire.. Elle.. Vogue.. They're all worshipping the ground she stands on, and quite fairly so.  She is young, gorgeous, and dresses quite fantastically, whether going to some posh fashion event or just wandering out to buy a coffee from the shop next door. So, to fully support this trend, I have made a mini collage of my five favourite outfits of this young star...

Good huh? I love them all, the variety of 1-5..

1. It's a very basic outfit, consisting of a pair of plain black court shoes, and a stunning lace playsuit. Normally I am not a 3/4-length sleeve fan, but these are elegant being longer, without seeming to cover everything.  A flattering shape and flirty, showing off a lotta leg!
2. This sparkly dress is simply incredible... A serious statement piece in a lovely, rich golden yellow, paired with a thin black belt and big black heels.. 5*s from me!
3.  Now this look is very me. An aspect we rarely see from  Miss Watson dressed all in black with a leather jacket.  However, instead of going for grunge, it's actually very elegant, with a silver clutch and smart top underneath, haired neatly pinned with smokey eyes.  Definitely worth taking on board.
4.  Dressed for part at Glastonbury this year, in ripped denim shorts, a leopard-print belt and grey plimsolls, however given that little touch of class and of summer with a smart white shirt with a big, frilly collar..
5.  Ordinarily, this would be quite an simple dress, elegant, but nothing worth shouting about. No, with Emma Watson, it's the extras that make it truly spectacular.. Black shoes, as opposed to something more subtle, make a true statement making the outfit that bit more edgy, and paired with some vamp makeup, dark lips and eyes, she really hit the nail square on the head to make a perfect look...

Emma Watson varies her appearance all the time, from classic to contemporary, but somehow, she always manages to pull it off. Jealous? Me too.. But there we go, all we can do is learn from her style, and steal the best bits!

Style Worth Stealing

Hi to everyone out there! My name is Harolyn and I live in Norfolk, but, as of the end of the month, shall be at university at Southampton studying French and Spanish.  However, outside of being at school, I am in love with fashion magazines, style websites, and stealing the looks of celebrities.  I created this blog as a way of discussing and expressing my ideas... It's what I do in my spare time anyway, but I thought I'd put it up online to share it all!  A collection of catwalk trends, celebrity styles, all with a pinch of my own on the side, the things I buy and wear.

I don't suppose anyone's reading this...but if you are, I hope it's interesting!

First proper post tomorrow....or even tonight if I can't sleep!
